The Medina County Sanitary Engineers (MCSE) are seeking Statement of Qualifications (SOQ’s) from interested consulting firms for professional design services described herein. The MCSE owns and operates a ~0.6 million gallon-per day (MGD) Water Treatment Plant (WTP) that employs pressure filtration and ion exchange (IX) for treatment and softening of groundwater. The WTP is located at 7064 Greenwich Rd in Westfield Center, Ohio. MCSE plans to increase the permitted capacity of the WTP to 1.0 MGD to build additional redundancy and resiliency into the local water system. Formerly a lime softening facility, MCSE converted the Westfield Center WTP to pressure filters and IX softeners in 2008 for simplicity of operations. In general, raw water is primarily supplied by the “Westfield” well site. A second well site (“Greenwich Road”) is rarely utilized due to poor water quality. The upgrade would consist of removing all existing equipment and replacing it with new equipment capable of treating 1.0 MGD.
