Either a one-pass or two-pass excavation and final lining installation method is acceptable. • Pipe-in-Tunnel at Adit connection to Heights Interceptor – Approximately 22ft of 6.5ft horseshoe shaped tunnel, constructed from Access Shaft No. 1, utilizing hand mined tunneling excavation methods. This tunnel is backfilled once installation of the 30in diameter pipe connecting to the existing Heights Interceptor is complete. • Access Shaft No. 1 with Precast Manhole Structure – An approximately 22ft x 17ft rectangular shaft approximately 55ft deep, excavated using mechanical methods through soft ground and shale bedrock. The bottom of the shaft is at approximate elevation 626, however, during the launching of the trenchless tunneling machine the bottom of the shaft will temporarily be at approximate elevation 647. • Receiving Pit - Rectangular pit approximately 28ft deep to be sized by the Contractor to facilitate retrieval of a trenchless machine, excavated using mechanical methods through soft ground and shale bedrock. The bottom of the receiving pit is at approximate elevation 652.
