This project will establish a new Great Park and improve guest access and amenities at the Werk Road Park Property while preserving and restoring the natural environment and sharing the cultural history of the site. The project consists of site improvements, adaptive reuse of historic buildings, and new building construction. Site improvements to include: • Environmental conservation and restoration o Development should be purposeful to protect or enhance natural environment • Repair/upgrades to site utilities and stormwater infrastructure o Possible restoration of headwater stream and/or wetlands o Assessment of existing municipal combined sewage systems • Pedestrian access points and circulation o Accessible paths and trail network o Boardwalks and overlooks to reduce disturbance and highlight site features • Vehicular access, circulation, and parking • Outdoor amenities to support educational opportunities o Outdoor classroom within existing walnut grove o Natural playscapes Building improvements to include: • Renovations sensitive to historic character of existing buildings: o Existing Dairy Barn o Existing Carriage House o Existing Caretaker’s House o Existing storage structure at former Greenhouse • New construction as required to support architectural program: o Maintenance building o Greenhouse addition • Building program includes: o Accessible all-season restrooms o Nature/Interpretive center o Education spaces for up to 60 o Greenhouse (educational, not production) o Offices and support space for Great Parks staff o Storage for guest experience and maintenance teams
