Specifications include, but are not limited to: Job descriptions for the positions referenced in RFP B2500003 School Nurses and School Health Services. Lead Nurse(s) ● Report to the district School Health Manager, and work directly with the School Health Manager on all responsibilities ● Coordinate with district School Health Manager on skilled nursing needs for students in the district ● Provide a robust health program for the assessment, evaluation, maintenance, and improvement of the health of students ● Ensure compliance of all student records, developing and implementing policies and procedures ● Supervise building nurses ● Identify areas of improvement to the care of students ● Ensure all student health records are current and each student has the proper exams and vaccinations, as required by the State of Ohio ● Establish and maintain a system for maintaining records of nurse office visits and dispensing medication for each nurse’s office in the district ● Oversee the Medication Administration Regulations and ensure compliance with the State of Ohio ● Maintain the school health offices in the schools, including but not limited to ensuring the offices are hygienic and comfortable, well-stocked, and with excellent supervision of students ● Develop policies and procedures for the district’s nurses’ offices ● Communicate with the district School Health Manager any issues that may arise; Building Nurses (RN) ● Provide first aid care and health assessment for students or staff ● Support of staff in medical emergencies ● Responsible for skilled nursing activities including but not limited to bolus feeds, catheters, etc. ● Responsible for overseeing the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and/or other school health team members in the building ● Write IHPs and coordinate the care of students with chronic or acute health conditions ● Seizure, DM, sickle cell, asthma, food allergies ● Communicate with teachers and staff to ensure the safety and well-being of students ● Administer medications and monitor designated staff medication administration ● Participate in 504’s, ETRs and IEPs for students who require nursing care ● Coordinate and assist with state mandated screenings ● May include vision, and hearing, BMI, immunizations required for school attendance screenings ● Assist families in accessing health insurance and health care services ● Support return demonstrations for Safe Schools trainings ● Emergency meds, daily meds, diabetes management, seizures, etc. ● Complete daily student encounters/documentation ● Communicable disease monitoring ● Collaboration with Audio, SLP on hearing screenings ● Health education ● Monitor daily work email and maintain requested records of service provided on an internet site managed by CPS. Additional assignments or requests for information must be provided to CPS within forty-eight (48) hours, either by phone or email. ● Should a school close on any regularly assigned school day, nursing personnel will maintain remote services under the guidance of the school principal and the district School Health Manager.
