Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Columbus, Department of Public Service, seeks to engage independent contractors on an on-call, as-needed basis for snow plowing services to supplement City crews during inclement weather from November 1, 2023 through April 30, 2024. Residential streets generally have speed limits of 25 miles-per-hour, carry little to no through movement, have lower traffic volumes, and have a primary purpose of providing access to abutting property. While it is anticipated that only residential streets will be plowed by contractors, other street types may also be plowed by contractors if the City has a need for assistance and the contractor is willing to do so. Companies/individuals contracted to provide this service must provide their own equipment. Training and instruction will be provided by the Department of Public Service. Contractors will be called as-needed with a guaranteed minimum payment as part of the contract. Contracts will NOT be awarded through a bid process, but selected from the Snow Plowing Questionnaires submitted by interested companies/individuals. Selected companies/individuals will be independent contractors and sign a standard City service contract.
