1. Collaborate with our selected playground vendor to design a best-in-class playground. Parks will select a playground vendor to provide in-house design for their equipment (to include fall height / distance analysis). However, the selected Landscape Architect should expect to coordinate design elements that will include site demolition, grading and utility considerations, drainage, and preparation of the site for surfacing, and proper access into the play area. 2. Recommend a Plan for Necessary ADA Upgrades – It is known that more dedicated ADA parking is necessary to provide proper access to this playground as well as the other Sawyer Point amenities to align with recent upgrades to the pickleball facility and future upgrades to the skating rink center. It is anticipated that at least nine spaces spread over three to four locations will be necessary to provide proper access. The selected Landscape Architect shall evaluate the site (from Cincinnati Parks’ Waterfront Offices to the East, and the entrance from Riverside Drive at Montgomery Inn to the West) and propose the most advantageous additions of these spaces, and any necessary additional / modified pathways and accommodations necessary to implement these changes and provide proper ADA access. The Landscape Architect shall include provision for topographic survey and Civil Engineering services necessary to complete Construction-level (CD) documents for these upgrades, to include necessary parking and pathway modifications. The final concept will consider new and existing circulation priorities required around amenities in addition to unique requirements for special events. 3. Construction Administration for Playground and Accessibility Upgrades – The selected Landscape Architect shall provide construction administration support, including conduction of construction progress site meetings, submission of regular progress update reports, construction observation and coordination with the city, playground vendor, and any installing subcontractors as necessary to provide a complete, accessible, and functioning playground. 4. Conduct a Site Analysis of Sawyer Point – Cincinnati Parks is the primary client. This project will have multiple stakeholders that will include ODOT, Great Parks, City Department of Transportation and Engineering (DOTE), the Cincinnati Board of Visitors, as well as the adjacent business district, patrons, and community members. Work under this item should include an evaluation of Sawyer Point at a conceptual level, to include refurbishment and a study of a new recreational use for the area under the 471-bridge where the 1000 Hands Playground was destroyed. The selected Landscape Architect will assist Parks with community engagement meetings and marketing to align scope with community expectations and available funding. It is anticipated that at least four (4) community engagement meetings will be held for input into the design. These meetings may range from an initial meeting with community members, to focused stakeholder input sessions and potentially a special group meeting, as needed to address individual project needs. The Landscape Architect will be responsible for developing a concept in alignment with the jurisdictional standards of this area. ODOT will have input on use and construction type for areas under the I-471 overpass. Great Parks is developing plans for the Oasis Bike Trail that will connect East West through the existing Park. DOTE is currently developing a bike path down Eggleston Ave that will connect to the Oasis Trail through the existing park in some format. The final concept should envision long term opportunities to synthesize the scope components into the existing conditions and aesthetics. The deliverable for this section should be a conceptual level design plan overview for improvements complete renderings and appropriate detail level cost estimation necessary to accurately present this information to decision makers.
