Specifications include, but are not limited to: Requirements for Salt/Ice Melt Application: Contractor shall be responsible to begin applying salt/ice melt on walkways, entrances, parking lots and roadways upon accumulation of snow reaching one-quarter inch (1/4”) deep at any City facility. Contractor will be responsible for monitoring local radar, weather reports, and/or satellite weather for impending snow. City personnel will NOT be responsible for contacting Contractor upon a snow event. Applying salt or ice melt in advance, in anticipation of a snow event, freezing rain or slippery conditions shall be acceptable.; Requirements for Snow Removal (Plowing): Contractor shall be responsible to begin removing snow upon accumulation of snow reaching one inch (1”) deep at any City facility. Contractor will be responsible for monitoring local radar, weather reports, and/or satellite weather for impending snow. City personnel will NOT be responsible for contacting Contractor upon a snow event.; Snow Removal: Snow plowing, removal, and salting services will be performed between the hours of 5:30 and 6:30 a.m. (between 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. for DCED properties; between the hours of 5:00- 6:00 AM for Fire Central Stores) Monday through Sunday (i.e. seven days a week) and on-call as needed with lots and sidewalks clean for employees entering the facility by the deadline. Overnight application of salt or ice melt shall be acceptable in anticipation of a snow event. Contractor shall ensure that walkways, stairways, garage entrances, loading areas, entrance gates, and parking lots should be cleared to permit access to the properties by the start of the business day, 7:00 a.m., if snow accumulation of more than 1” occurs.; Contractors are to supply all labor, snowplows, front-end loaders, dump trucks, shovels, snow blowers, ice melt, salt, salt spreaders (hand and truck), and safety equipment needed to complete the work. Salt or ice melt will not be stored at any City facility.; Snowfall: Plowing and salting of all paved areas, entrances, and clearing/de-icing of all walkways during storms, to permit access and movement of staff if snowfall of more than 1” occurs. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to return to properties to keep the entrances, drive aisles, and sidewalks free from ice and snow. At no time shall there be a hazardous/life safety condition. Cars parked in lots may be coordinated for movement through the property contact only during the hours of 7:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Contractor shall not pile or plow snow behind any vehicle parked in a parking lot or along a front walkway.; Slippery Conditions: When surfaces are slippery and/or temperatures are at or below freezing, Contractor is responsible for applying ice melt, which must be spread on sidewalks and walkways; salt must be spread onto all parking lot areas.
