Columbus Public Health is seeking proposals for (1) professional skills useful in social services work; and (2) interpersonal skills and topics useful in social services work. Proposals may include one or both of these training opportunities. Professional Skills: Providing services related to HIV can be stressful, fast paced, often underfunded, and often thankless. In coordinating both the Ryan White Part A and Ending the HIV Epidemic grants for Central Ohio, Columbus Public Health needs supportive trainings on topics, including motivational interviewing, ethics and boundaries, trauma-informed care, stages of change, and other related subjects. Specifically, Motivational Interviewing has two (2) sessions, in-person, that equal one training. All of the others are only one (1) session, and only done virtually in the case of the “professional” ones. These trainings are for professionals that are working at agencies funded by Columbus Public Health. Interpersonal Skills: In coordinating both the Ryan White Part A and Ending the HIV Epidemic grants for Central Ohio, Columbus Public Health needs supportive trainings on topics, such as useful interpersonal and relationship-building skills. People living with HIV are more likely to isolate themselves and have challenges re-establishing healthy interpersonal social networks. Thus, training staff can assist them in teaching clients and modeling these behaviors.
