An AV system refresh is proposed that will leverage the new QSC DSP and microphone systems recently installed in the Hearing Room, and existing Owner Furnished LCD displays currently installed in the room The new system will be capable of hosting video conference meetings via a BYOD “bring your own device” USB connectivity provided at the primary control desk. There will not be any traditional video conferencing “codec” provided with this system. This USB connection will allow the BYOD computer to access the new ceiling mounted camera and wireless microphones for use in the video conference. The BYOD principals employed here will allow the users to manage their preferred platform that they would like to use for conferencing, be it MS Teams, Zoom, or another conferencing suite available on a PC or MAC. System Control - All system functions will be controlled via a 10” touch panel that will be placed on top of the existing equipment rack in the Southwest corner of the room. This touch panel will serve as the primary control point for system functions. It will allow the user to adjust volume of the microphones, program audio, display power, video sources shown on displays, and room configuration Room Configuration - Room configuration will be set up into two primary functions: 1) Hearing Room, and 2) General Use. In the Hearing Room configuration, the audio system will be set up to perform best when the Board is utilizing the newly constructed dais at the West end of the building. In this Hearing Room setup, a speaker mix-minus will be configured to help reduce the potential for feedback from the board member’s microphones and the presenter’s microphones in the gallery. In the General Use configuration, all microphones will be available in every speaker to provide the best flexibility for usage of the room. Please note that some caution will need to be exercised with microphone placement in this configuration as the potential for feedback is increased if a microphone is placed directly underneath a speaker. Existing Equipment - Existing speakers, displays, and streaming camera will be reused for this system to refresh. Contractor will not be responsible for the current functional status of this equipment. Any deficiencies found during the implementation of the new system will need to be addressed at the time of discovery New Equipment - New equipment will consist of QSC HDMI endpoints behind the existing displays, QSC conferencing camera mounted to the ceiling near the center of the room, QSC touch panel for system control, and a new multi-channel amplifier to support mix-minus configuration.
