1. GENERAL This specification covers the surface preparation, and the painting of various traffic control and roadway lighting equipment located within the City of Cincinnati. Locations for painting shall be provided to the contractor by the DOTE Traffic Services with work performed and paid for on a per item basis. 2. SCOPE The work to be performed on an as needed basis under this specification consists of surface preparation, application of prime coats, and final painting of various traffic control and roadway lighting equipment. All painting shall be a first-class job presenting a smooth, neat appearance. The work shall also include protection of surrounding areas from paint spattering using drop cloths. Street light globes, refractors, illuminated sign faces, and all other items not to be painted shall also be protected from pant spattering. The contractor shall be responsible for maintaining traffic in areas that are being painted and must also provide warning of wet paint areas. The contractor shall also ensure that all painting areas are safe for use by pedestrians or that pedestrians are kept away from areas where paint may drip or spatter. The contractor shall ensure that all vehicles whether moving or parked are not spattered with paint. The contractor shall be responsible for clearing all parked vehicles in the vicinity of any area to be painted. The contractor shall also be responsible for all work necessary to clean up the area surrounding items to be painted, especially sidewalks, and restore these areas to their existing conditions after the painting is completed. The contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, and material necessary to complete the surface preparation, painting, and clean up for all items to be painted.
