The request of the vendor is to provide all uniformed members of the CFD with medical and fitness evaluations and cancer screenings. These screenings will at a minimum meet the standards of NFPA 1582, Standard of Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments: “Each medical evaluation shall include a medical history (including exposure history), physical examination, blood tests, urinalysis, vision tests, audiograms, spirometry, chest x-ray (as indicated), ECG, cancer screening (as indicated), and immunizations and infectious disease screening (as indicated).” Additionally, the request of the vendor is to provide annual medical evaluations of each member individually to ascertain whether the member can perform the duties of a firefighter while wearing an SCBA. This evaluation will consider both medical history as well as what can be observed from a clinical perspective and will consider the guidance provided in the Attachment 3 – National Fire Protection Association standard 1582, “Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire Departments.”
