Specifications include, but are not limited to: Two existing 1,000-ton water cooled centrifugal chillers will be removed to make space for two new 1,000-ton HR Chillers or some similar configuration of size and quantity determined by the A/E. The West Bank of cooling towers and associated pumps and piping will be removed. The A/E will develop heating and cooling thermal load profiles of North Chiller Plant to determine the peak summer cooling loads and peak winter heating loads. The results of the load profiles shall be used to right size the new plant equipment. The HR Chillers shall be sized to meet the campus load with redundancy to enable reliable hot and chilled water production 24/7/365. The NCP will have major equipment added, these will consist of at a minimum: Heat Recovery Chillers, Primary HR Chiller Pumps, Geothermal Well Pumps, Expansion Tanks and Makeup Water connections. Additional infrastructure added includes major Site Piping, Geothermal Well Field, and Building Automation System modifications. The existing North Chiller Plant operates with a distributed pumping system for both CHW and HW. Primary pumps are located within the plant. There are no secondary pumps located in the plant. The building pumps in each building are used to push / pull water through the combined head loss of the site piping system and the building pressure drop. The heating water pumping configuration will change to a Primary/Secondary arrangement under this project.
