Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Maxwell Mine Entries project is located in Vinton County, Knox Township, Section 27, Fr. 33. ODNR Division of Geological Survey records indicate that an associated mapped underground coal mine was known as the D.F. Roberts, Roberts mine (OGS X VN-86) and does account for several open entries. The Upper Freeport No. 7 seam was mined until 1933 at this mine. The other entries in the vicinity set for closure are not mapped. Tenentrieslocatedwithina500’radiusposeadangertothepublicduetothecloseproximitytoatownshiproad.Mostoftheseentriesarelocatedlessthan300’fromCoalHollowRoad.Six of these entries will be closed via a light duty bat gate. Two will be closed with a dry mine seal closure. Two will be closed with a culvert vent closure to maintain airflow and allow for water to continue to drain from the mine. Site access shall be from multiple points along Coal Hollow Road, approximately 1 mile north of US 50. Major work items in this project include but are not limited to approximately 805 SF of Light Duty Bat Gate, 300 LF of Straw Wattles, 178 Concrete Bags, 57 tons of Type D Rock Channel Protection, and 30 LF of 12” HDPE Pipe.
