Specifications include, but are not limited to: MOWING/TRIMMING REQUIREMENTS 1. Equipment used shall not be heavier than what the ground will support. Any ruts, holes or other disfigurement caused by mowing equipment shall be the responsibility of the contractor to repair it to its original condition. 2. The contractor shall mow/trim around all signs, barricades, trees, fences (both sides to be trimmed & mowed), poles, sidewalks, hydrants, posts, buildings, or other amenities encountered. 3. The contractor shall temporarily move any non-stationary objects such as hoses, picnic tables, benches, etc. so that all areas can be mowed and/or trimmed. 4. All litter and debris shall be removed before and after each mowing a. Clippings, leaves, weeds, dirt, and any foreign material or debris shall be removed from sidewalks/drives, etc. and disposed of after mowing. b. Clippings shall not be left on hard surfaces. c. Mowing equipment must not be used in such a way that it would leave tire marks or grass stains on sidewalks. d. The walkways around buildings and structures shall be cleaned immediately after mowing. 5. Mowing shall be completely and evenly mowed to a uniform height not to exceed 2 to 3 inches unless indicated otherwise on the location spreadsheet. During dry periods, the cut height shall be no less than 2-1/2 inches. a. Cutting shall be performed in such a way as to eliminate clumping of grass clippings left on the lawn. b. Any clumping or windrowing of grass for whatever reason must be removed by the Contractor. c. Both sides of a fence are to be mowed/trimmed. d. All areas shall be considered accessible if they can be mowed/trimmed with a 21" push mower. 6. In areas that cannot be reached with a lawnmower, the grass shall be trimmed to the height of the adjacent grass. Trimmed areas are to be cut to the same height as areas mowed with larger equipment. 7. All grass clippings should be away from public and private vehicles, mulch beds, flowerbeds, walls, windows, all buildings, and equipment, or any areas that will create an unsightly appearance. If the Contractor is unable to prevent clippings from being blown into these areas, a grass catcher must be used. 8. Mowing/trimming shall be done around all signs, barricades, trees, fence, poles, sidewalks, guy wires, hydrants, posts, trailer skirting, plantings, buildings, etc. Trimming shall be done in a manner that does not cause damage when trimming around tree trunks, plants, signposts, lights, buildings, trailer skirting, electric boxes, etc. 9. Edging around lawn perimeters, sidewalks, steps, driveways, parking lots, and other surfaces boarded by grass shall be done as needed but not less than monthly 10.A brush hog may be used for grass height that exceeds 4” and for locations as indicated in the spreadsheets. 11.Shrubs shall be trimmed to maintain appearance. SPRING CLEAN-UP 1. Removal of any leaves left from fall, branches, debris, weeds, etc. Leaf removal to be scheduled with city representative. 2. Cut back winter growth on plants, shrubs, bushes, ornamental trees 3. Rake loose and compacted soil and mulch. 4. Edge beds 5. Supply and spread 2 to 3 inches (minimum) of fresh mulch. No Cypress mulch to be used. The city representative shall pick out the color. 6. Apply pre-emergent weed control during the mulching process 7. Rack 40 (Cuyahoga St. Storage Facility) only – brush mow clay capped mounds in spring & once during summer FALL CLEAN-UP 1. Removal of any leaves, branches, debris, weeds, spent annuals, etc. Leaf removal to be scheduled with city representative. 2. Trim, shrubs, bushes, ornamental trees. 3. Cut back perennials 4. OCIT-1 location only – brush cutting of slope stabilization seed areas & prairie mix areas 5. Rack 40 (Cuyahoga St. Storage Facility) only – brush mow clay capped mounds WEEDING/VEGETATION REMOVAL 1. All weeding/vegetation removal shall occur monthly unless a location contains planting areas, tree rings, or beds. These areas shall be done weekly. 2. Perimeter fence line may be treated with an herbicide up to 4” wide on each side of the fencing. a. Rack 40 (Cuyahoga St. Storage Facility) only - Spray an area of 1 foot around the outside of the fence with herbicide. Vegetation growth inside of the fenced area around the diversion structure must be prevented. 3. Weeds may be controlled with contact spray herbicide, hand-weeding, and/or selective use of pre-emergent herbicides. a. Rack 40 (Cuyahoga St. Storage Facility) only – Area around the Outfall structure must be treated with an herbicide that will be effective for the whole season 4. Drainage swales and headwalls must be clear of weeds/vegetation to ensure proper drainage and flow. 5. All gravel areas are to be cleared of weeds/vegetation
