This specification covers labor and materials for maintenance of backup generators, components, appurtenances and conditioning that the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) may require to be performed. The purpose of this specification is to assure that tested and inspected backup generators, components and appurtenances, are operational and within applicable standards, manufacturer's tolerances and that the backup generators, components and appurtenances, are maintained at readiness for continuous and spontaneous service. DPU intends to use this specification and the resulting requirement contract(s) to provide labor and materials to maintain and refurbish various types of backup generators and appurtenances in its facilities, for a period of two years. The unit prices bid for the two year contract shall remain firm. This bid is for the generators only. The work shall include maintenance and refurbishment as approved at a pre-determined cost for backup generators and appurtenances, conditioning, and recycling. The maintenance, testing, and refurbishment activities shall include condition reports for the backup generators and appurtenances. Appendix A is an inventory of most of our equipment. All generator and catalyst maintenance shall be performed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, recommendations, and/or operating manual(s). As required, catalyst filters shall be inspected by the vendor for condition, then cleaned or recommended for replacement. The work outlined in this specification may include hazardous voltages, materials, operations and equipment. It shall be the responsibility of the maintenance contractor(s) to review and abide by all applicable regulatory limitations and safety regulations. DPU reserves the right to enter into a contract and/or contracts for any item listed on the Bid - Schedule of Items below after a thorough evaluation of the submitted bids.
