The Gallipolis Developmental Center has an open area outside building 6050B, that the agency wants to upgrade with the installation of poured-in-place (PIP) rubber to provide seamless, durable, ADA-compliant, and low-maintenance surface suitable for recreation by the residents. Contractor to be responsible for site preparation which includes: Stripping of existing grass from surface and excavation of dirt up to approximately 6” depth in 20’x20’ (400 sq. ft.) identified area. Removal / haul away of grass and dirt. Ground must be leveled / graded. Installation of compacted aggregate base layer that provides shock-absorbing cushion. Base layer should be made from shredded and recycled rubber (SBR granules) and a polyurethane binder. Base layer will ensure stable, flat, and appropriate foundation for rubber surfacing material. Contractor will be responsible for furnishing and installing Pour-in-Place safety surfacing, while ensuring the following: Provide a design layout for the top wear layer that is approved by the Agency prior to installation. Wear / top layer must consist of finer, colored EPDM (ethylene propylene diener monomer) or TPV granules mixed with a UV-resistant binder for durability, aesthetics, and slip resistance. Materials should be web poured and troweled on-site.
