The City of Shaker Heights is seeking Statements of Qualifications from professional design teams to study and evaluate the existing mechanical conditions of ice facilities at the Thornton Park Ice Rink located at 3301 Warrensville Center Road. The result of this study may lead to specific project(s), which would incorporate the findings of the study. The intent of this request is to identify the appropriate professional design firm(s) to complete this study. The need for the study is a result of age and heavy use of the existing facility. The existing facility was built in 1968, with various improvements and renovations made since that time. The goal of this study and evaluation is to determine the current state of all mechanical systems that comprise the Ice Rink portion of the facility only (electrical, mechanical, HVAC) and to make recommendations which will enable the City to determine the useful life, repairs and/or replacements needed for the City to continue to safely, economically and efficiently utilize the Ice Rink in its current capacity.
