Based upon In-depth inspection findings and approved concept groups, the basis of design to develop construction plans, specifications and an engineer’s estimate shall be: − Extend the platform edge by a nominal 7- ¾ “ on both westbound and eastbound sides to allow the new rail vehicles to operate with 3” maximum gap per FTA standards with 2”(-) tolerance and allowance for proper new door function. See drawing SK03 in appendix D. − Replace the existing platform. Modular type components are preferred in lieu of to cast in place concrete. Lead time for materials to site will be a strong consideration in developing final schemes for replacement. − Uniform deadload of extension shall be no more than 35 pounds per foot per side. − Uniform pedestrian loading of 100psf with a 300 lbs. concentrated load. − Uniform snow loading of 50psf to be combined with pedestrian loading. − Uplift load of 30psf. − Check overhang capacity of new platform when using existing foundation support. − Design additional support and new extended edge connections to platform as required. − The platform edge modification design shall have ability to be pre-manufactured ahead of the shutdown and allow for a quick install during the shutdown. When warranted, new tactile forms shall meet ADA & GCRTA requirements. Headhouse work will be limited to attending items affected by the platform structure replacement when necessary.
