Specifications include, but are not limited to: The sculpture should represent a large Dunkleosteus that appears as if to be breaking the water surface, with its head, dorsal fin, and pectoral fins exposed; the remainder of its body will be “submerged” (i.e., not represented). Thus, only the anterior half of the body will be represented. (See example photo of Great White shark at end of this document.) Excluding the foundation and supports, the sculpture will be approximately 9 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 4 feet tall. Sculpture will be placed along the brick walkway in the Devonian section of the Geo Walk exhibit. The sculpture should be made of glass fiber reinforced concrete layered over a dense foam core, or of similar materials. The sculpture should be mounted on a concrete foundation and support structure designed and built by the artist(s).
