The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), through the Division of Parks and Watercraft is responsible for the management of Ohio State Parks of which offer numerous recreational opportunities and experiences. This project includes the design and construction of an adventure play area and trail improvements at Deer Creek State Park. The overall program of the project is to blend nature and adventure play into a large destination space to enhance the experience of day use visitors as well as overnight lodge and campground guests. The adventure play space should have elements accessible to all users and offer varying levels of obstacles to challenge all ages and abilities with an emphasis on children ages 7 and older. Large play structures and themed areas should motivate children and adults to cooperate in outdoor play, engage in social interaction, and be inspired by the natural environment. Trail components are expected to be either new segments or improvements to existing trails to provide park visitors access to views not available elsewhere around the reservoir. The consultant should consider how distinct points along the trail could engage the visitor and combine or disconnect nature from play.
