Garfield Joint Military Training Center (C-JAG) Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) identifies certain areas to be managed as grasslands for wildlife habitat. There are several old fields at C-JAG that are in various stages of reversion. Woody brush must be controlled to maintain the grassland. The most environmentally sound, efficient, and cost-effective way to accomplish this is by mowing and disking. Grassland areas are mowed, brush cut, or disked on a rotational basis with the goal of managing to perpetuate the grassland habitat while leaving some areas untreated each year to retain adequate winter cover habitat. Not all grasslands are treated every year
