Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The provider shall pick up stray animals running at large in violation of the County Ordinances when such animals are within the County but outside of the corporate limits of any municipality. When the owner of an animal is known, the animal control officer may at his discretion either return the animal and write the owner a citation or impound the animal, as the situation warrants. 2. The provider will be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will answer all emergency calls after regular business hours, and on Sundays and holidays, as well as all reports received during office hours. Emergency calls are from 5:00 pm to 8:00am Monday through Friday, from 5:00 pm Friday through 8:00 am Monday and on the following Holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, after 3:00 pm the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Day, after 1:00 pm Christmas eve day, Christmas Day, after 1:00 pm New Year’s Eve Day. 3. The provider shall respond to calls from the Sheriff’s Department and from citizens concerning strays, animal bites, vicious animals, animal abuse, livestock on roads and highways, dogs chasing or killing livestock, and other animal related complaints or problems.
