Specifications include, but are not limited to: fill and seal a mine subsidence which has opened up and is capturing the intermittent flow of a feeding stream to a tributary to the Ohio River. As a result of the stream capture a portion of the existing stream has been damaged by excessive erosion and another portion has been cut off from flow. To fix these problems the subsidence opening will be sealed with polyurethane foam, the erosion will be backfilled and the stream will be connected with the tributary. The stream will be reconstructed with an impermeable layer in critical locations to prevent future stream captures and with Type D rock channel protection to prevent erosion damage. Additionally, an open mine entry, in close proximity to the stream capture, will be closed to human traffic with a light duty bat gate. In order to protect both the residential driveway and the adjacent stream a temporary stream crossing will be utilized to access the project site.
