This notice is intended strictly for market research. The purpose of this Sources Sought notice is to determine the interest and capability of small businesses to meet the requirements listed below. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Regional Procurement Office Central, Network Contracting Office 10, is seeking sources to provide bulk granular water softener salt under a 5-year firm-fixed price contract with the Battle Creek VA Medical Center located at 5500 Armstrong Road, Battle Creek, MI 49037. The anticipated period of performance is December 1, 2025 - November 30, 2030. Salt currently being used is Granulated Industrial YPS Bulk NSF 60 . Salt must include a YPS anti-caking agent. It is estimated that up to 170 tons of bulk water softener salt will be ordered each year, delivered in an estimated 28 tons bi-monthly. Each delivery could range from 20 to 35 tons per load upon request but is not guaranteed. Deliveries must be made within five days after the order is placed. Deliveries will be accepted Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ET. The Battle Creek VA has a silo type storage unit and salt will be required to be blown into a 4 fill port connection. Delivery personnel should bring 45- and 90-degree elbows to ensure adequate hose connection capabilities. Please note this is for bulk salt only, bagged salt will not be acceptable. Salt availability must be guaranteed during the entire period of performance. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 325998 All Other Miscellaneous Chemical Product and Preparation Manufacturing, and the Business Size Standard is 650 Employees.
