In 2019, Ohio (through DriveOhio) and Indiana [through Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT)] jointly applied to the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) and were awarded an Advanced Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment (ATCMTD) grant to demonstrate various levels of truck automation technology. DriveOhio and INDOT (TAC Project Team) is seeking Proposers[1] (also referred to as deployment teams) to deploy commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) L2 and higher levels of automated driving systems (ADS) technology on trucks in operation (e.g., trucks operating for a private fleet, trucks carrying paid loads, etc.). The TAC Project Team will work with the deployment team to collect data to evaluate the impact on the deployment team’s business operations. The TAC Project Team will also assess the impact of these technologies on the safety, operations, and efficiency of truck movements, as well as awareness of and satisfaction with these technologies throughout this project.
