This item consists of providing all labor, material and equipment necessary to construct a Type 4-C concrete curb in areas as determined by the engineer throughout the City. The minimum length of curb to be replaced will be 25-feet. Saw-cutting will be considered incidental with the work. The new concrete curb shall be replaced in accordance with Item 609 of the ODOT Construction and Material Specifications (latest edition) and revile shall match the existing curb or as directed by the City. Back fill on the back side of curb will be number 8 stone up to 3-inches from existing elevations. The remaining fill will be a minimum of a 3 inch layer of 5/8” screened, sandy loam (65% sand, 20% clay, 15% silt – 7–10% organic material, 6.5-7.5pH) topsoil and shall be placed on all areas affected by equipment or removal of curb to facilitate growth of grass. All bare earth is to be seeded (sun grass seed mix – 70% Rye, 30% Kentucky Bluegrass) and covered with hay. Backfill and restoration cost will be incidental to the unit bid item. All curing material shall be thoroughly agitated prior to use and shall be clear. Concrete will be fiber reinforced with Fibermesh Inforce e3, as manufactured by SI concrete, or approved equal product. Scope of work also includes minor asphalt pavement repair (as needed), sealing the interface between the new curb and existing pavement, performed Joint material (Item 705.03); these activities will be considered incidental to the unit bid item.
