The work covered under this contract generally consists of removal and disposal of debris from storm drainage catch basins, inlets and manholes and the entire length of lead line as designated by the City within the area designated on the enclosed contract documents. GENERAL The contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision, materials, tools and equipment required for proper completion of the work including any items not particularly mentioned in these specifications, but obviously necessary for the proper performance of the work. Wherever any feature of the work is not fully set forth in these specifications, it shall be completed in a manner conforming to best current practice. The contractor shall visit the sites prior to the start of any work to investigate existing conditions, and consult with the Director of Public Works or his designee, as to the best location for setting up operations in order to expedite the completion of his work. The contractor shall be responsible for protection of all existing utilities and structures in the replacement area, including sprinklers. Any damages caused to surrounding structures shall be corrected at the contractor’s expense. TRAFFIC CONTROL The contractor shall exercise caution at all times for the protection of persons and property. The contractor shall furnish and maintain all guards, barricades, handrails, lights, and other appurtenances, in conformance with the Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The contractor shall maintain safe and satisfactory vehicular traffic at all times in accordance with Item 614 of the ODOT Specifications. Access to abutting properties shall be maintained at all times. The contractor shall not block any drive, road or portion of road without prior permission of the Chief of Police. If permission is granted to block local access, the contractor shall notify, in writing, all property owners affected 48 hours in advance so as to minimize any inconveniences. No separate payment shall be made for maintenance of traffic. The contractor shall include all costs for maintaining traffic in his unit prices for catch basin cleaning. INSPECTION The City shall inspect the units no later than two weeks after they have been cleaned by the contractor. If found dirty, the contractor shall reclean the units at no cost to the City
