The CONTRACTOR shall provide all labor, equipment, and supervision necessary to prepare, plant, and maintain the acres associated with each task. It is the responsibility of the selected CONTRACTOR to remove limbs, large litter, car parts, etc. that have the potential to damage CONTRACTOR’S equipment prior to work beginning. Canada thistle and Cutleaf teasel MUST be treated before seed production begins. It is the responsibility for CONTRACTOR to know the plant biology of ALL target species (annual, perennial, bi-annual, bloom time, reproduction, and senescence) and be able to identify target species at all growth stages, from rosettes to flowering to winter standing dead vegetation. All herbicide should be mixed and applied at the label rate for Canada thistle. Specifications include, but are not limited to: TASK 1; New site preparation by using a non-selective herbicide to ‘burn down’ existing vegetation in fall 2025 and spring 2026. Combined reports will NOT be accepted. Target species include Canada thistle, Cutleaf teasel, Johnson grass, Poison hemlock, common ragweed, Wild parsnip, Grapevine, Buckthorn, Callery pear, Tree-of-Heaven, Multi-flora rose, cool-season turf grass, Marestail, Foxtail (yellow and green), Autumn olive, and Honeysuckle. TASK 2 New site preparation by drill seeding cover crops (seed provided by ODOT) in spring 2026 and crimprolling in summer 2026 to control weeds for later planting by retaining soil moisture, providing nutrients, and smothering existing weeds.
