1. Background
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Office of Food Chemical Safety, Dietary Supplements, and Innovation (OCSDSI), Human Foods Program (HFP) has a requirement for a refresh of its Chemical Evaluation and Risk Estimation System (CERES). CERES is an IT solution implemented to support the pre- and post-market safety evaluation of HFP regulated substances. CERES integrates cheminformatics solutions, chemical substances data along with their corresponding in vitro and in vivo toxicity data, mode-of-action based computational toxicology models, and read-across tools, through a simple, user-friendly user interface, to facilitate and support the safety and risk assessment needs of the HFP.
