Specifications include, but are not limited to: Family Voices of North Dakota (FVND) is the state’s Family to Family Health Information and Education Center and Parent to Parent Program, works diligently to provide services and assistance on behalf of children and youth with special health care needs and disabilities. FVND will: 1) Assure that ND families of children with disabilities and special health care needs have ongoing access to an effective, statewide parent to parent support program that is sustained by an experienced family-led organization. 2) Increase outreach to underserved populations (i.e. families of children with special health care needs and disabilities in rural, tribal and other ND communities). 3) Build FVND’s capacity to blend technology and traditional support models to provide families with access to information and emotional support as well as enhance leadership development activities. 4) Assist families as they navigate the education system providing emotional support as families are going through the IEP process. Families participating in the program will: 1) Have access to informational and emotional support. 2) Have opportunities to connect with other families through traditional methods (phone and in person) as well as by using technology (email and online support groups). 3) Learn about formal and informal support systems and system navigation. Providers participating in the program will: 1) Have assistance with families they are providing support and need additional information on community formal and informal supports. 2) Have access to learning opportunities throughout the year. 3) Access to additional supports via technology such as FVND website and social media.
