Intoxilyzer® 8000 and Intoxilyzer® 9000 Breath Alcohol Analyzers are the only evidential breath alcohol instruments certified by the State Crime Lab and are accepted by the ND Court Systems as an evidential breath alcohol instrument. CMI, Inc. Intoxilyzer® 8000 and Intoxilyzer® 9000 use pulsed infrared technology that eliminates chopper motors and mechanical switching of filters in the analytical system. The Breath Alcohol Program requires the evidential breath instruments to be infrared detectors only. The Crime Lab uses a Breath Alcohol Database (BrAD) - Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in the breath program for tracking instruments, operators, training classes, and monthly reporting. The 3rd party software was purchased through The Computer Solution Company – Forensic Advantage Division and a service agreement is maintained and purchased yearly.
