Specifications include, but are not limited to: Gravity sewer lines up through 12 inches in diameter are typically cleaned, inspected and evaluated by Town staff. Closed circuit television (cctv) inspections are maintained in an IT Pipes database. The Town defines a gravity sewer interceptor as being 15 inches or larger and direct service connections are not permitted. Cleaning, video inspection and condition assessment of interceptor sewers are performed on a contract basis by an outside vendor. Hydrostructures, PA of Pittsboro, NC performed these functions beginning in 2009 and was awarded a contract to continue performing this work in 2016. A network of 32 open channel flow meters are deployed at key locations throughout Cary’s wastewater collection system. These flow meters are maintained by Frazier Engineering, P.A. of Stanley, NC. Flow monitoring data is updated on a monthly basis and will be made available to the Consultant for use in evaluating sewer bypassing requirements or other design needs.
