VC youth were less likely to have previous felony referrals than SA, 31% vs. 35%. VC youth did have higher percent of previous weapon offense vs, SA, 22% vs. 17%. VC youth at intake had higher rate of detention admission than SA, 27% vs. 20%. VC youth had higher rate of prior YDC Commitment vs SA, 13% vs. 2%. Family Domain VC youth were assessed to have less runaway risk than SA, 13% vs. 21%. VC youth were less likely to have family members with criminal history 19% vs. 26% for State Average VC youth were less likely to have good supervision than SA, 30% vs. 80%. School Domain 21% of VC youth assessed were suspended from school vs. 3% for State Average VC youth were less likely to attend school regularly vs SA, 39% vs. 56%. VC youth were less likely to have police reports filed in school, 6% vs. 24% for SA. VC youth assessed were more likely to be failing some classes than SA, 30% vs. 16%. Community/Peer Domain 45% of VC youth assessed had negative/delinquent influence, 7% associated with gangs, and 1% identified as a gang member. These numbers were consistent with State Average. Alcohol/Drug Domain 40% of youth assessed responded yes to alcohol/drug use vs. 39% for State Average Aggression Domain 27% of youth assessed displayed a weapon vs. 11% for State Average 16% of youth assessed used a weapon vs. 8% for State Average Applicants are being sought that are able to address items below: 1. Program services compatible with research that are shown to be effective with juvenile offenders. 2. Program services are outcome-based. 3. The program has an evaluation component. 4. Program services detect gang participation and divert individuals from gang participation. 5. Awareness of and sensitivity to Racial Ethnic Disparity that exists in the County. 6. Programs are encouraged to provide effective programming that includes restorative justice practices.
