Specifications include, but are not limited to: Johnston Community College (JCC) is seeking unarmed campus security services on the campuses during day/evening hours, weekends, holidays, inclement weather, special events, and other times when additional security services may be needed. Sites generally requiring security services may include, but not be limited to, the Main Campus, located in Smithfield, the Cleveland Center campus, located in Clayton, the Workforce Development Center campus, also located in Clayton, and the Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center, located in Four Oaks. Also, security services are used for special events that may be held on and off JCC campuses. UNARMED SECURITY GUARD DUTIES Security personnel must be competent, trustworthy, and present for all duty hours at the location in which they are assigned. Security personnel must report to duty on time to receive any special or additional instructions from the previous shift. It is the security guard’s responsibility to pass along and explain all instructions to the incoming guard. Vendor personnel shall check in at the Campus Police & Security Office upon arrival on campus at the beginning of the shift and sign out any building keys, radios, and other required equipment for the assignment. All signed out equipment and keys shall be returned to the Campus Police & Security Office prior to departure from campus. A dated log of personnel hours will be maintained and available for review by the Director of Campus Police & Security or designee at all times. Guards will not leave the property for any reason unless properly relieved. If the relief guard is more than 15 minutes late, the guard on duty must notify the security supervisor and remain on post until a replacement arrives. Guards will not have personal visitors on the property, nor will they use any of the College’s telephones for personal calls or computers for personal business. With the exception of the College’s designated security vehicles, guards will not operate any motor vehicles belonging to the College or the College’s employees unless specifically instructed to do so. Security personnel represent Johnston Community College and must display a professional and courteous demeanor when addressing or interacting with all students, employees, and visitors.
