The North Carolina Port of Morehead City currently has one (1) Gantry Crane, and a new GC Liebherr LPS 420 Mobile Harbor Gantry that is on order and expected to arrive in January 2026. The purpose of this solicitation is to seek proposals from qualified vendors to provide two (2) new 32’ gage rail-mounted hoppers which will be utilized with Morehead City’s new general cargo crane and their existing crane and will both be located at the Morehead City Port located at 113 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557. These new hoppers shall have a 75 cubic yard capacity and will be highly utilized for discharging bulk products (grains and fertilizers) directly to both railcars and trucks at Morehead City Port. Discharge of bulk products directly to rail car or truck would not be possible without the use of the hoppers. Having two (2) new hoppers will provide a competitive advantage and given the capability to work multiple large vessels with shore cranes along Morehead City’s deepwater berths, will be important to support future tonnage.
