All selected firms participating in the On-Call Pool shall be able to provide the following equipment: 3.1 Small Vehicles: Small vehicles shall include passenger cars, motorcycles, pickup trucks, and vans. All wreckers must be equipped with warning lights as required under state law, as well as the items listed below: • Two four ton snatch blocks • Two manufactured and patented "J-Hooks" • A brake lock system or two scotch blocks • Dollies consisting of four wheels, dolly axles, and tire straps • Current N.C. Inspection Sticker required by law • Lighting in accordance with federal regulations • Four way flashers in good working order • Fire extinguisher in good working order • Broom, shovel and axe for cleaning accident scene, excluding hazardous material • Recovery chains, safety chains, two snatch blocks, pry bars and bolt cutters • Company name on both sides of wrecker not less than three inches in height and readable From 200 feet • Wreckers must be in compliance with all state and federal regulations in accordance with the GVW of said vehicles. • Equipment meeting all Federal D.O.T. regulations All companies meeting the above requirements will be placed on a rotation list to tow small vehicles. 3.2 Large Vehicles: Selected firms providing towing/recovery services for large vehicles shall provide a minimum of two (2) vehicles which must be sufficient size and weight to remove and tow tractortrailer rigs and refuse trucks, one (1) of which meets the requirements of small wreckers and two (2) of which must be a rollback. All wreckers shall be equipped with warning lights required under state law and the equipment criteria listed below. • Minimum of 43-ton capacity • Be equipped with mechanical or hydraulic recovery unit • Be equipped with two hundred feet of 9/16 inch cable in good condition • Heavy duty under reach frame lifts, air brakes and airbrake lock • Any current inspection stickers if required by law
