Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Winston-Salem is seeking to obtain proposals from qualified electrical engineering firms to create specifications and plans for a complete emergency standby generator system at five (5) separate locations. The scope of work should include existing conditions assessment, product selection, designing and permitting in order to provide the full bidding package for a separate turn-key installation contract. A. Determine the power capacity needs for each facility in order to properly size a standby generator, and to select the best site location. B. Provide all plans and specifications for a complete turn-key generator installation. Specifications may be provided as 8.5x11 sheets or on the drawing sheets. The specifications shall stipulate three equal brands for all major components for competitive bidding purposes. C. Provide a cost estimate based on the current market. The submitted designs/specifications shall meet the budget of the City for a complete turn-key installation. D. Submit sealed drawings and specifications for permitting, address all plan review comments, and obtain approval for an electrical permit for each location. (Pulling the permit and paying for it will be part of the later construction contract). E. Completing the drawings/specifications and permitting as quickly as possible – see project timeline below – so the project can be completed before winter. F. Assist the City’s Purchasing Division with competitive bidding by attending one pre-bid meeting, answering bidder questions for addenda, and making a recommendation of award. G. Provide construction administration to the tune of two site visits per location – the first being when the generator is being set at each location, and the second when each installation is complete and the City is doing its punch list visit.
