The City of Durham's Department of Solid Waste Management (SWM) is seeking qualifiedfirms (Consultants) specializing in solid waste planning, permitting and design to assist theDepartment with developing and implementing a Comprehensive Solid Waste Disposal Plan.The Plan will review current transfer station operations, convenience center management and options for the design and building of a facility that will establish waste diversion as a primarygoal. The plan may address proposing a larger facility being built and/or capital improvementsbeing made at the existing facility. In addition, the plan should address the possibility of theCity forming a partnership with the private sector. The partnership may include operating afacility capable of processing municipal solid waste, targeted recyclable materials, constructiondebris, yard waste and other material delivered to the facility.
