1. Salt shall meet AASHTO M-143 specifications with the following exceptions: 2. Moisture content- 3% maximum. A 1% penalty will be charged for each percent of moisture about 3%. 3. Sodium Chloride content- 97% minimum based on dry weight. 4. Supplier (contractor) must furnish three (3) copies of a “Certification” with the delivery ticket on each load which will reflect (A) gradation, (B) purity, and (C) moisture content. Failure to comply may be grounds for rejection of the shipment and/or delay of invoice payment. 5. Gradation requirements: SIEVE ½” #30 % PASSING 100 not more than 10% 6. Non-caking additive-when shipped in bulk, sodium chloride shall contain an anti-caking additive. A minimum of 25 PPM of Non-Caking Additive is required to assure proper handling conditions for the salt. 7. A Materials Safety Data Sheet is required with your bid.
