Surry County is soliciting Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) from well-qualified Architectural or Engineering (A/E) firms interested to provide feasibility and design services for renovations in the existing Sheriff’s Office and 1974 and 2003 portions of the inactive Jail. The renovations to the 2003 portion of the inactive jail will result in an annex for the existing judicial center. The renovations to the Sheriff’s Office and the 1974 portion of the inactive jail will encompass offices and storage for the Sheriff’s Office. In addition to the existing structure renovations, the scope includes updating the HVAC system, windows and electrical. Surry County expects the selected firm and/or team of consultants to have design expertise and demonstrated experience in civic governmental facilities and security equipment design, fabrication, and installation. The selected firm will provide complete feasibility, architectural, and engineering services for the design of the new Sheriff’s Office and Judicial Center annex as described in the Project Background and Description. The Architect/Engineer shall provide traditional basic architectural and engineering services including civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical engineering services and other authorized special services (interior design, landscape design, security design and programming) appropriate to the project. The final scope of services, together with the A/E fee, will be included in the final executed agreement. The contracted services will include full and complete design services including site investigation and planning, building program identification and verification, schematic design, design development, construction documents including project specifications and project manual, cost estimating at each design phase, and bidding services as needed.
