This project will construct a driver training area, an apparatus training, maintenance, and storage facility, and multiple training props for the Emergency Services programs on the Western end of the college's property adjacent to the Public Safety Building. The driver training area will include a concrete apron measuring at least 600' x 600' (360,000sf), an s-curve driving track, railroad crossing, and other obstacles are planned with the driver training portion of this project. The new Apparatus Training, Maintenance, and Storage Building will include bays to store the college owned fire trucks, ambulances, and law enforcement training cars. Bays will double as teaching areas where students can learn the equipment and maintenance techniques. Also planned are classrooms, offices, laundry, storage, and breakroom for the program. Ideally, the building will be a steel/CMU framed structure with a brick and metal facade and metal roof with an appearance similar to a fire station. Approximately 16,000 sf is planned at this time but will be defined with the design team. The planned training structures consist of a shooting simulation building, drill tower, POPAT course, extrication, numerous exterior propane fire props, observation towers, and class A material storage.
