Specifications include, but are not limited to: The County’s Park and Recreation Department has recognized a lack of high‐speed internet access as a concern for segments of the Mecklenburg County population and has subsequently developed a plan intended to reduce this digital divide between communities. Local parks and recreation center parking lots in “Wi‐Fi desert” areas have been identified for the installation of public Wi‐Fi. Public Wi‐Fi at these sites would be available during scheduled hours and operate separately from the Mecklenburg County network. The County is seeking the professional support of a vendor or vendors experienced and knowledgeable in providing wireless internet services at outdoor public spaces to deliver Wi‐Fi services at a variety of local parks and recreation facilities. Vendor(s) will be selected and provide a 100% implementation and management of the service, including but not limited to: hardware/software sourcing, installation, operation, maintenance, and support to the public Wi‐Fi system.
