Specifications include, but are not limited to: Mowing of Turfgrass: 1. Special precautions shall be used when mowing during maintenance operations. 2. All debris or litter in lawn shall be removed prior to mowing. 3. A minimum of one (1) mowing cycle shall be performed each week as directed by the Engineer throughout the year in order to maintain a clean, neat appearance. Mowing may be required more than once per week or not at all as directed by the Engineer. 4. Mowing shall be completed in a neat, uniformly cut manner. Gapped or rolled down, uncut streaks of turfgrass will not be considered acceptable. The height of the mowing cut shall be no less than four (4) inches, not to exceed five (5) inches between mowings, and shall be approved by the Engineer. The Contractor shall not "scalp" any areas of turfgrass. The Contractor shall not mow lawns while the turf is wet. 5. The lawn areas around the service and vending buildings are planted in a fescue-bluegrass mix and shall be mown to no less than 4 inches, not to exceed 5 inches between mowings. A small rotary walk behind mower with bag, to be supplied by the Contractor, is to be used for mowing this area. No riding equipment will be permitted in these areas. 6. The Davidson Memorial Park Area will require a high level of mowing. The circular area inside the Memorial Park Area is planted in Bermuda grass and shall be mown to no less than 1.25 inches, not to exceed 2.5 inches between mowings. Contractor shall aerate and overseed the area with annual winter ryegrass in mid- to late September. Over winter, the rye shall be mown to a height not less than four (4) inches. Once the Bermuda green up has begun, the mowing height shall gradually decrease at the direction of the Engineer. A reel type power mower, with bag, is required for the Memorial Park Area circular lawn. Grass areas adjacent to throughout the Memorial Park Area are to be considered as lawns. No riding equipment will be permitted in the Memorial Park Area. The Contractor shall be responsible for mowing/weed eating the top of the berm to 4” as directed by the Engineer. Liriope is to be cut back and removed by February 1st as directed by the Engineer. 7. All ramps shall be mown and/or trimmed to the top/bottom of the slopes and/or wood line to maintain an attractive appearance and prevent encroachment of invasive growth.
