Carteret County Government is seeking competitive proposals for the design, construction, and installation of a new pre-engineered metal building measuring approximately eighty-feet-long by sixty-feet-wide by sixteen-foot-high (80’L x 60’W x 16’H). The project shall include site work, concrete foundation and aprons, bay doors, and electrical. The new building shall be constructed at the existing Otway Public Works yard located at 499 Harkers Island Road, Beaufort, NC 28516. The Contractor shall abide by the details and shall refer to the diagrams and associated pictures in addition to the scope of work specified within the documents provided below. The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and services necessary for the turn-key completion of the project. Site Work and Concrete Foundation • Site work shall be performed as required for the erection of the new building. Necessary site work may include but is not limited to surveying, permits, inspections, clearing existing debris, stabilization, backfill, excavation, grading, footings, drainage, and design. • The entirety of the new building shall have a concrete foundation and floor with two (2) twenty-foot-wide (20’W) aprons spanning from the first and last set of bay doors. • The minimum specification of the new concrete for all areas shall meet the following – Six-inches thick (6”) reinforced with #4 rebar at twelve-inches (12” OC) on-center each way. Load capacity shall be designed to accommodate heavy equipment rated over 20,000 lbs. • Interior concrete shall be smooth troweled finish with non-slip sealer and exterior concrete finish shall be brushed, both with appropriate sawcut relief joints. The Contractor shall ensure that water sheds away from the building. Metal Building • Construct a pre-engineered metal building, approximately eighty-foot-long (80’L) by sixty-foot-wide (60’W) by sixteen-foot-high (16’H). The roof shall be standing seam with appropriate pitch. • White vertical twenty-six (26g) gauge metal siding panels shall be used. Trim color is preferred green. Kynar paint finish shall be used for all metal surfaces. • All framing shall be metal, including roof trusses. • Fiberglass batt insulation with a minimum R-value of R-30, shall be installed for the ceiling. Necessary ties shall be included. • Design and install eight (8) twelve-foot-wide (12’W) by fourteen-foot-high (14’H) chain-hoist metal bay doors, evenly spaced with four (4) doors on each side as shown in the diagram below. • Install One (1) white exterior hollow metal ADA door with a 5-inch (5”) by 26-inch (26”) security window. Components shall include commercial hinges, interior crash-bar, exterior lever lockset, threshold, sweep, and weather strip. New key(s) shall be handed to the County POC. Electrical • Coordinate with Carteret-Craven Electric Co-op to provide new underground electrical service to the new building. New power shall be trenched as necessary to the new building. Repairs of existing materials shall be the Contractor’s responsibility. • Provide a minimum two-hundred-amp (200A) service, unless otherwise noted in the engineering design. Main box shall be securely installed on the interior. Install thirteen (13) 120v interior service receptacles, two (2) appropriately sized gable fans with louvers, manual thermostat, and associated receptacles, and two (2) four-prong (4P) 220v receptacles. • Install LED high-bay fixtures to achieve a minimum of thirty (30) foot-candles inside, evenly spaced, operated by one switch located near the man door. • Install four (4) LED exterior flood lights. One at each corner, with a photocell. • All conduit shall consist of EMT or rigid per code.
