Specifications include, but are not limited to: CCS is currently seeking proposals from qualified agencies that provide professional nursing services that meet the following requirement and specifications. 1. Agencies that provide the services of a Registered Nurse (RN) will provide appropriate monthly supervision by an agency Registered Nurse (RN) to the Health Services Lead assigned to schools. 2. Agencies will provide RN’s who are licensed and qualified to perform the assigned specific duties in accordance with their scope of practice as defined by the NC Board of Nursing. 3. Agencies will provide a substitute/back-up nurse in the event an assigned nurse is absent. This should occur within 2 hours of an unplanned absence/call-out. 4. The medical support nurse administrative responsibilities will include: a. The medical support nurse will establish contact with the principal at the start of the contract. The principal serves as the person with whom the nurse works closely in delivering services in schools. b. School Health records will be kept separately and stored in a locked cabinet provided by CCS and kept at the school in compliance with Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and CCS student records policy. The school health record is a part of the cumulative record and thereby property of CCS. The school principal shall have access to the locked cabinet as needed. c. Provide medical support to student(s). d. Complete required documentation daily. e. Adhere to district guidelines for all matters to include, but not limited to, the following: 1. Reporting Absences, 2. Documenting Services Rendered and 3. Communication with Families. 5. Monthly RN supervisor visits must be performed and documented by the agency’s RN supervisor. The cost for this supervision should be included in the approved RN hourly rate. 6. The RN responsibilities may include (vision/hearing screening.): Teacher and Parent conferences a. Review health records with school nurses and others as appropriate or requested. b. Assist parents and school personnel with referral to appropriate resources for further evaluation of potential health problems. c. Assist school staff with increasing the percentage of documented completed Health Assessments.
