The City of Hendersonville LOWER MUD CREEK FLOODPLAIN RESTORATION AND FLOOD RISK REDUCTION PROJECT consists of stream, wetland and floodplain grading, flood and stormwater control structures including pipes, gates, berms and weirs, project phase and maintenance access routes through wetland areas, as well as potential alternates for natural surface and asphalt trail construction and bridged and culverted water crossings. The work will include installation of in-stream wood and rock structures and bioengineering, planting, invasive species removal and erosion protection and sedimentation control including flow diversion and pump around requirements. The primary purpose of the project is to remove existing berms along the top of bank, restore streams and streambanks, grade floodplains and wetlands for topographic diversity and water storage, improve habitat and improve public and maintenance access on the sites.
