a. Liquid Ferric Sulfate solution MUST MEET AWWA B406-97 and ANSI/NSF STANDARD 60. b. Liquid Ferric Sulfate solution must be manufactured from virgin mined iron ore, LKAB Minerals MagnaChem or an approved equivalent that meets MagnaChem specifications of high purity components (i.e. magnetite, hematite, ferrous sulfate, etc.), and a “water white” grade of sulfuric acid. c. The City of Raleigh reserves the right to add or delete specific impurity listings as is required to meet all USEPA, SDWA, and FDEP water quality standards, and any newly regulated maximum contaminant level (MCL) that may be passed into law during the span of the contract. • The vendor will comply with any such changes that are required, by whatever process change that is required, at no additional cost to the City. d. All impurities must be with values listed in the Water Chemical Codex. e. The Liquid Ferric Sulfate solution must meet the following properties and characteristics: i. Formula: Fe2 (SO4)3*nH2O ii. Molecular Weight (approximate): 399.8 iii. Ferrous Iron (Fe2+) 0.15% max iv. Free Acid (as H2SO4): 0.10% max v. % Insoluble: 0.1% max vi. Ferric Iron (Fe3+) 12.9% - 13.9% vii. Specific Gravity 1.57 - 1.63
