Haywood Community College requests to purchase one BOY injection molding machine for educational purposes. The product will be used for the computer-integrated machining training program offered at the Haywood Community College. New equipment is needed due to technological advances in industry. When the Canton paper mill closed last year, HCC was quick to step up, offering programs in carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and integrated machining training. HCC has received a Job Training Programs Grant to purchase injection molding equipment for computer-integrated machining training. BOY injection molding machines have several patented features, including a pressure intensifier, cantilevered clamping, and Procan ALPHA control. A BOY injection mold machine is needed to train students with this specific machine used by local manufacturers. It will prepare students for successful employment in the region by two plastics manufacturers in Haywood County: Sonoco and Consolidated Metco.
