Specifications include, but are not limited to: Wake County Housing Affordability & Community Revitalization seeks proposals from interested vendors (for-profit and nonprofit agencies) for the management and delivery of food services for the South Wilmington Street Center (homeless shelter). The 234-bed South Wilmington Street Center (SWSC) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and serves as the primary emergency shelter for men who are homeless in Wake County. The Center currently employs 40 full and part-time on-site staff. The facility also has a full-service, commercial kitchen and dining hall with a capacity of 200. In fiscal year 2019-20, the Center served 1,685 unduplicated men, averaging 212 guests per night. In addition to overnight, emergency shelter, the SWSC operates a transitional housing program with case management services devoted to providing supportive services and housing assistance in order to assist clients in becoming economically self-sufficient. Services provided to men at the Center include showers, meals, laundry, access to phones and computers, counseling, case management, referral and information assistance, and support group activities. The SWSC is a member of the White Flag Network, providing overflow emergency shelter on winter nights when the temperature becomes dangerously cold.
