The Department of Public Works is soliciting proposals for the provision of emergency on call snow and ice removal services, and other necessary related services, when snow or ice resulting from severe winter weather cannot be cleared or removed entirely by City of Durham employees. a. Work shall not begin until the Contractor has received a written Notice to Proceed. b. Work shall be limited to streets indicated on a grid map provided by the City and within designated hours defined by the City. c. Contractor will utilize Contractor-owned equipment and Contractor-employed labor; and/or sub-Contractors and/or joint venture partners that were identified in the RFP response. d. City agrees to provide idle/standby rate for equipment that is ready for service based upon specified criteria. e. All work will be performed in a manner, and with equipment, that does not damage City streets, utilities, landscaping, adjacent street rights-of-way or other infrastructure. f. Work shall be adequately supervised by the Contractor. g. If snow is to be trucked away, it shall be moved only to area(s) directed by the City. h. Log sheets for each piece of equipment in service must be maintained during the time of service. i. The Contractor warrants all operators are properly licensed and trained.
